Starlings Fly

Starlings Fly

A dark bird with bright orange on its wings.
Mark Catesby’s The Red Winged Starling (Oriolus phoeniceus), 1754.

The lyrics to “Starlings Fly” are a poem by Peter Winne. He writes,”the chords and much of the melody come from a Georgian folk song called ‘Guls rad miklav,’ which I learned from a recording by the Georgian group Ensemble Kereoni.” Petter Winne also performs the guitar and all vocals on this recording, which was made at The Creamery, in Brooklyn, in December 2015, by Chris Connors.
