a collection of all my voice memos; field recordings from the outside world.
i wanted to create a journey of sound, one that i have walked over the last year or so.
there’s peaks and valleys, trails and tribulations
there’s sights to see and siestas to sleep
all my voice memos, all my people, all my noise.
to fill our quarantined rooms with space,
give you something to breath.
maybe crack the window a little bit, and press play.
“All My Voice Memos” was originally created in Professor Roy Nathanson’s Spring 2020 Arts Workshop “Creating a Full-Length Text/Music Performance and Recording” and appears as part of a class showcase, “Recordings from Quarantine.”
“There are a lot of people I should acknowledge on this track, because I created zero percent of the music. The man in Washington Square Park who plays the classical piano, Adam Birnbaum of the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Spanky Alford, Matt Bardin, everyone at the rally against the MTA/NYPD in Harlem, Pastor T.L. Barrett, the amazing artist Fabiola Jean-Louis, Aretha Franklin, Dolores Huerta, rapper Shane Gordon, Billy Paul, María Teresa Kumar, Roy Nathanson, my classmates, all the musicians on the subway platforms, Kat on the TR-8, homie Ben on the FaceTime, Nico with the gripping story, the jazz band at Fat Cat, Snafu Yellow with the freestyle, Marty Walsh, WCVB Channel 5 Boston, KHON 2 News, the Washington Post, and Mongo Santamaria.”—Maxwell Powers Glenn
