Field Recordings from the Pacific Northwest
“Too often, Indigenous people and cultures are “other-ized” by tropes like a magical, spiritual connection to nature. I juxtapose urban life with nature in order to highlight the normalcy and same-ness of an Indigenous modern life alongside the devastation of both past colonization and present gentrification. I also explore the irony inherent in our method of transportation alongside the sheer joy of feeling free, even if the freedom is only an illusion.”
—Alexis O’Donnell
“Projections: Field Recordings from the Pacific Northwest” was created in response to the Americas Scholars 2018 trip to the Pacific Northwest.
