“Synthis” is a compilation of instrumental, atmospheric music I began composing during my senior year at NYU. The premise began as an attempt to create feeling or sensation without understandable lyrics, with relaxation, anxiety, and wonder standing as themes. Over time, though there are voices woven throughout each work, I’ve turned them into breaths, sung laughter, or hollowed hymns that lean closer to song than speech. My hope is that the sounds allow you to forget whatever’s on your mind at the moment. Perhaps you’ll slip into a fantasy of fairies and forests, or you’ll become an agent on a mission now lost at sea. Whatever place is most thrilling for you, I hope my music takes you there.
